This seldom seen vintage Tidemaster has a matte black dial that is in pristine condition, free of any scratching, tool marks, chipping or defects.
Please note that any imperfections seen are on the crystal not the dial.
The lume, which remains intact and emits a very quick-burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a warm golden buttermilk hue.
While visually imperceptible in person the lume shows some cracking that can only be seen under high magnification.
The bezel, which rotates bidirectionally with an appropriate amount of tension, presents nicely.  The chrome-plated
case shows moderate wear with slight brassing.
The outer edge of the case back is stamped "WATER RESISTANT TO 3 ATMOSPHERES   SHOCKRESIST" with "STAINLESS STEEL" stamped in the center.
The crystal should be replaced as it shows scratching, cracking and significant dust/debris on its underbelly.
The 7 jewels unadjusted Japan "HAMAZAWA, Ltd." and "5005C" stamped automatic movement with quickset date function is clean and the date and time can be set without issue
but it does not run.
The quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 20 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached.  The crown winds smoothly.
Given that the movement does not run and considering that it shows no clear signs of ever having been serviced (there are no visible watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back or on the movement) a complete overhaul is required.
This watch measures approximately 35 mm excluding the crown, approximately 37 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs.  Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 10.5 mm.  Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 12 mm.
Given that the movement does not run a complete overhaul is required.
As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch.  Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time.
For this watch that time is now.  Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility.
