    Description

This classy vintage 1960's Baylor Duval dive watch is seldom seen, especially in this configuration.  Baylor and Duval were both subsidiaries of Zales Jewelers in Texas.  This watch has a lovely black "SWISS MADE" signed satin dial that, depending on the lighting conditions, changes color from smoky black to various shades of grey.  In my humble opinion it's a very pretty color.  The original lume on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact, matches perfectly and emits a short-lived glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a beautiful golden buttermilk hue.  The black bezel with red inverted triangle rotates bidirectionally and is in near mint condition.  The heavy duty all stainless steel case shows some normal wear but is in good overall condition.  The outside of the case back is stamped "STAINLESS STEEL   AUTOMATIC   SWISS MADE   WATERRESISTANT   TO 600 FEET   SHOCKRESISTANT   ANTIMAGNETIC" with "DUVAL" stamped in the center.  The inside of the case back is stamped "DUVAL JEWELRY CO" followed by "SWITZERLAND" and "ETA 2472."  There are some minor signs of oxidation around the edges on the inside of the case back but no obvious signs of pitting.  During service a watchmaker can use a wirebrush to likely remove this discoloration.  The top hat crystal shows scratching.
The gilt finished 17 jewels Swiss "DUVAL JEWELRY CO" stamped ETA 2472
    automatic
movement with quickset date function is in excellent cosmetic condition but does not run and is missing its crown.
Considering that this watch shows no signs of ever having been serviced (there are no visible watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back or on the movement), a complete overhaul will be needed to get this watch running.
This watch measures approximately 37 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40 mm if it had its crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs.  Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9 mm.  Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 11.5 mm.
As mentioned above this watch does not run and will require a full service along with a new stem and crown.
As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch.  Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time.  For this watch that time is now.  Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility.
Please thoroughly read this entire listing and kindly ask any and all questions you may have prior to buying as this sale is final and no refunds of any kind will be given.  And please study the 12 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.
Expedited and insured shipping will be provided.  Thanks for looking!
