AUREUS, a limited edition fountain pen
made in a beautiful celluloid marbled with a subtle multi-chromatic resin where   purple fades into bronze into aubergine into cobalt blue;
these pictures do not do it justice- at a distance is reads as monochromatic but up close it is rich and
mesmerizing
. The clip, trim and other furnishings are
in sterling silver (there are three versions of this model: gold, silver and bronze)
with the top of the cap
decorated with a reproduction of the Aureus Pertinax with
the Latin written “IMP CAES P HELV AVG”.
This is one of the sterling silver models, number 299 of 810.
The filling system is a lateral compression system obtained by inserting the supplied coin in the special slot
that looks like a
stylized column,
a
recurring element
theme in Marlen products; finally, the clip is handcrafted with two exposed rivets out of sterling silver, lending a distinctly handmade look.
Impeccable craftsmanship.
The pen has never been inked ( given its age, I did test the ink bladder for compression and it works).
The nib tag is still on it identifying it as a Medium 18
K gold nib.
